National Holocaust Remembrance Week

National Holocaust Remembrance Week

Holocaust Remembrance Week is a time when we remember the millions of people who were hurt or killed during the Holocaust and learn why it is important to treat everyone with kindness and respect. During this week, we learn about standing up for others, accepting people’s differences, and making choices that help create a safe and caring community. Remembering the past helps us understand how our actions today can make the world a better place.

To honor Holocaust Remembrance Week, Rainwater Elementary will be hosting daily challenges that encourage kindness, acceptance, community, responsibility, and being an UPstander—someone who speaks up and helps others. Each day, students will have a chance to show caring actions, include others, and make positive choices at school.

By working together, we can make our campus a welcoming place where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.

Monday: Kindness

Kindness means being a good friend to yourself and others. You can be kind by saying nice words or helping someone who is sad. Today, try to do one kind thing for yourself and one kind thing for a friend.

Tuesday: Acceptance

Everyone is different, and that makes our world exciting! It is important to listen to others even if they talk or think differently than you. Today, try to learn something new by being a good listener.

Wednesday: Community

Our school is a team called a community where we all work together. We are happier and stronger when we help each other and share. Your challenge today is to find one way to help someone at our school.

Thursday: Responsibility

Your words and your actions are like superpowers because they can make people feel happy. You have the power to choose to be helpful and do the right thing. Today, use your "superpower" to be a responsible and helpful friend.

Friday: UPstander

An UPstander is a hero who helps when they see someone being mean. If you see someone being treated badly, tell a teacher or an adult right away. Always be brave, be respectful, and stand up for your friends!
